Art Athina, the International Contemporary Art Fair of Athens, during October 15-31, will hold the virtual edition of its annual cultural event on its new online platform aavirtual.gr, which has been designed with the aim to bring closer galleries, collectors, and art lovers from around the world.

Art Athina Virtual is a platform designed to explore a wide selection of works, together with the parallel programming with sections such as Talks, Performance, Video and Projects.

Galleries present their digital booths while their spaces will be open to visit throughout Athens.

One of the oldest annual art events in Europe, Art Athina will be transferred into a digital environment due to the coronavirus epidemic that caused its cancellation earlier this year.

During the virtual Athenian fair, Greek and international galleries will present their virtual rooms, as well as performances and videos.

Through their computer, tablet or smartphone, users will have the opportunity to visit more than 55 galleries in Greece and abroad; meet the artists and see their works.

Art Athina Virtual will be accessible on a 24-hour basis, seven days a week. It will also feature different lighting during the day and night.

Parallel events will include the presentation of independent art spaces under the title Projects as well as the Talks, that will run throughout Art Athina Virtual, to offer insight on the current trends in contemporary art.

Furthermore, this year’s event will include the Art Athina Week, a live event that will run from October 13-20, with the aim to offer Greek art galleries the opportunity to open their doors and present the works that will be exhibited online.

Launched in 1993 by the Hellenic Art Galleries Association, Art Athina promotes Greek contemporary art. It was established with the aim to become a meeting point for artists from the Greek and the wider international community.
